Press Conference in Bosnia and Herzegovina

On March 7, 2006 United Women Banja Luka and Helsinki Citizens Assembly Banja Luka, Bosnia and Herzegovina, held a press conference to present to the public of Bosnia and Herzegovina the Global, CEE and Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Report results. Also, our goal was to inform the public on the activities that will be undertaken in the Three Weeks of Global Action on Gender and the Media in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
On the meeting/workshop that United Women organized in Banja Luka on February 27th and 28th 2006, 10 participants from all parts of B&H, mainly journalists and NGO activists, agreed to undertake a national media monitoring of 30 printed and electronic media on March 8th. United Women will coordinate all these activities. In order to inform selected media about these activities, United Women on March 1st sent a letter to all these media to invited them to join the UNESCO and UNIFEM appeal, and asked editor-in-chief to ensure that a women editor edits central news on March 8th.
Fourteen journalists were present at this press conference. They were all given the mention appeal and the data from Global, CEE and Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Report in written.
